Abstract
Ionization enthalpies of o-, m- and p-methylbenzoic acids in ethanol–water mixtures have been determined. Combined with corresponding free energies, the ionization entropies have been calculated. The substituent and solvent effects on the ionization thermodynamics are discussed in terms of solute–solvent interactions and the structure of ethanol–water mixtures.
