Abstract

A microwave-accelerated synthesis in ionic liquids is presented as a novel approach to functional nanomaterials. LaPO 4:Ce,Tb and In 2O 3:Sn (ITO) have been selected as examples to prove the effectiveness of the synthesis. Based on these results, synthesis is directed to expanded materials preparation, selective surface modification and phase transfer as well as to applicational aspects, such as the formation of transparent luminescent or conductive layers.
