Abstract

Open-cage fullerenes have complex structures with an the outer surface that generally contains Lewis basic sites produced by the cage opening reactions as well as an inner void that could accommodate a metal ion. This talk will discuss the reactions of open-cage fullerenes with metal complexes and highlight instances where unanticipated chemical reactions accompany the addition of metal complexes to open-cage fullerenes.
