Abstract

Electrochemical oxidation at surfaces can elicit unique reactivity and facilitate transformations that would be difficult, if not impossible, otherwise. This lecture will describe an example wherein complex macrocycle formation was uniquely enabled by anodic oxidation. Adaptations of the method for use on manufacturing scales will be discussed, as will attempts to generalize the technique for constructing other highly functionalized, large ring structures.
