Abstract
In the present series including 101 patients who were scheduled to receive aortic valve-sparing aortic root replacement according to David's reimplantation technique, the authors identified 16 cases (15%) that met the criteria of aortic root repair failure defined as (1) intraoperative conversion to Bentall's procedure, (2) reoperation because of aortic regurgitation, and (3) aortic regurgitation of moderate degree or more at follow-up [1]. The authors have to be congratulated for their honest report on failure after aortic valve-sparing operations.
