Abstract
The article by Li and colleagues [1] describes their experience with surgical resection of primary cardiac sarcoma in 29 patients over a 17-year-period. As in all series of primary cardiac sarcoma, they had a relatively young patient group and an aggressive malignancy with an overall median survival of 17 months. The median survival was significantly better in R0 than in R1 resections (58 months vs 11 months) This is consistent with our finding in 57 patients with right heart sarcoma resections in whom the median survival for R0 versus R1 resection was 27 months versus 4 months and the 5-year survival was 36% versus 0%) [2].
