Abstract

The luminescence method was used as a tool for determination of silver diffusion coefficient into CdI2 single crystal. It was shown, that diffusion flux of silver from surface into the bulk of CdI2 is caused by the simultaneous movement of Ag + ions and electrons e- due to charge neutrality. Therefore, diffusion of silver in Ag-CdI2 system is described by ambipolar diffusion coefficient D amb = (3.0± 0.5) × 10 -9 cm 2 /s. Relatively small value of mobility of diffusion flux is limited by the small value of electron mobility due to their capture on the deep levels of CdI2 crystals.
