Abstract
Isotherms of water adsorption on and desorption from quartz surfaces have been determined. Thermal analysis curves of water thermodesorption from quartz surfaces have also been determined. From the experimental data, the energetic changes accompanying the water adsorption and desorption processes were calculated. The mechanism of water adsorption has been proposed, and conclusions concerning the structure and other properties of water films on quartz surfaces have been drawn.
