Abstract

AbstractAn investigation is made of a reaction kinetic model in which the generation rate of conduction electrons is assumed to be proportional to the number of occupied traps in the appropriate energy‐range. Solutions of the steady‐state and transient concentrations of conduction electrons are obtained. The influence of various trap distributions (discrete level, homogeneous, exponential and Gaussian) is investigated in detail. The quantum efficiency increases with increasing electron concentration and results in a superlinearity and an S‐shaped growth of photocurrent. The change of the quantum efficiency with the electron concentration is virtually determined by the decay or half width, respectively, of the trap distribution.
