) were evaluated. The average yield of sliced veneer was 841 m2/m3 log, of a veneer thickness of 0.55 mm. The total loss after sliced veneer production was 50.2% concerning the total log input. The red heartwood influenced the yield of the veneer production, however, less than originally thought. Concerning the quality of the veneers, a quality assortment for interior use, furniture, doors and panels has been done. As a result it can be concluded, that beech stems from diameter class 5 (MD 50–59 cm below bark (b.b.), following German round wood classification) led to a higher net product than stems from diameter class 6 (MD 60–69 cm b.b.).
