Investigation on the status quo of pharmacy intravenous admixture service in Nanyang City

Abstract

Objective To understand the status quo of pharmacy intravenous admixture service (PIVAS) operation in Nanyang City, analyze the problems in the establishment and operation of PIVAS in Nanyang City, and explore the working mode that meets the needs of the development of PIVAS. Method Questionnaire survey and telephone interview were used to investigate the situation of PIVAS in Nanyang City. Results There were two ways for the building-up of PIVAS in the hospitals: one was helped by the enterprises, the other was building up by the hospitals. The current work model for the PIVAS was the combination of medicine and nursing. The PIVAS could not service the whole hospital. The professional personnels for the PIVAS were not full and low quality. Conclusions PIVAS is an important direction of development of hospital pharmacy in the future. Hospitals should attach importance to the development of PIVAS and the comprehensive ability of pharmaceutical technicians, so as to facilitate the healthy development of PIVAS.
