Abstract

Objective To understand the influencing factors of core competence of community nurses by investigating the status quo of core competence of community nurses in Taiyuan city. Methods By using convenient sampling method, 500 nurses from Taiyuan community health service institution were selected for the questionnaire survey of core competence. Results The core competency score of community nurses was (85.46 ± 8.90). The core ability of 6 dimensions was ranked from high to low: leadership and management skills, interpersonal skills, ethical, legal practice ability, professional development, assessment and intervention skills and critical thinking skills.The influencing factors of community nurses' core competencies included working years, educational level, work income, clinical work experience and training experience.Training experience was the main factor to predict the core competence of community nurses. Conclusions The core competence of community nurses is at a low level, and relevant managers need to develop appropriate intervention strategies to improve their core competencies in terms of their weak capacity.
