Abstract

Objective To investigate the application status of aerosol inhalation by suburban patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease ( COPD) .Methods A total of 82 patients with COPD were chosen by convenience sampling , and self-designed questionnaires were used to investigate their application of aerosol inhalation .Results Eighty-two questionnaires were handed out and 82 were recovered , with the effective rate of 100%.Patients hospitalized in respiratory department had statistically higher score in application of aerosol inhalation than those who were hospitalized in non-respiratory department ( t =9.27, P 〈0.01 ).Linear correlation analysis showed that the score was in positive correlation with the patients ’ educational background , whether hospitalized in respiratory department , and whether examined upon further interview with doctors ( r=0.350, 0.728, 0.511, respectively;P〈0.01).Logistic regression analysis indicated that whether hospitalized in respiratory department and patients ’ educational background were the main influencing factors ( R2 =0.58, 0.37, respectively ).Conclusions To improve patients ’ ability of using aerosol inhalation correctly , professional skill trainings are necessary for nurses in non-respiratory department .
