Abstract

Permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) has merits of high efficiency as well as high power density, extensively used in electrical drives. Because of inferior surface-mounted PMSM (SPMSM) speed regulation rotor position estimation accuracy, when operating at zero or low speeds, one high frequency square voltage injection approach is reviewed and simulated after analyzing rotor saliency of SPMSM. The gained results show the approach can overcome obviously the demerits of the traditional sensorless vector controls, namely those on the basis of rotating high frequency voltage injection as well as pulsation high frequency voltage injection, showing satisfactory rotor position estimation accuracy as well as dynamic speed regulation performance.
