Abstract
The electromagnetic parameters of the material determine the electromagnetic characteristics of the interconnection. Common methods for measuring the electromagnetic parameters of the material are roughly divided into the resonator method and the network parameter method. With the development of the vector network analyzer technology, the network parameter method has been popularized in revealing the electromagnetic parameters of materials, which utilize vector network analyzer to measure the S-parameter of a material sample. Then the electromagnetic parameters such as the dielectric constant and permeability of the material are extracted from the S-parameter. However, the fixture will cause embedding errors during the measurement process. Thus, it is important that the embedding error should be eliminated for improving the S-parameter accuracy as more as possible. The measurement system is mapped into the cascade model of port network, and five states of cascade network are designed. Then, state equations can be built to solve fixture S-parameters de-embedding problem. When using the proposed de-embedding method, the impact coaxial air-line test fixture is simulated. After the S-parameter of the coaxial air-line fixture is obtained, the actual test of PTFE material samples is carried out. The proposed method has been validated by experimental results.
