Abstract

Objective To investigate and describe the level of caregiver burden who tack care of elderly self-care disabilities living in community, and explore the factors related to caregiver burden. Methods This was a descriptive non-experimental research, applied convenience sampling, questionnaires were used to survey caregivers in Beijing Fangzhuang and Hepingli communities. Questionnaires: Elderly self-care barrier demographic data questionnaire, Daily living scale (ADL), Caregiver demographic data questionnaire,Caregiver burden inventory (CBI). And gave statistical analysis. Results 72 the burden of caregiuer of 18 mild, 50 moderate burden, the burdenof; Female caregivers' burden was greater than the male's; The burden of caregivers with spouse was greater than those without spouse; The burden of caregivers unemployed was greater than caregivers in the industry; The burden of caregivers with poor health was greater than the health (P < 0. 05); The burden of caregivers tacking care of the male elderly self-care disabilities was greater than those who tacking care of the female(P <0. 01 ); The higher ADL score Self-care barriers got, the greater the burden on caregivers ( P < 0. 05). Conclusions Caregivers bore the different levels of burden, and overall level of the caregiver burden was moderate; Caregiver burden was affected by caregiver's gender, caregiver's marital status, caregiver's perceived physical health status, caregiver employment status, and gender and ADL score of the people being taken care of.
