Abstract
In this work, the adsorption of several aromatic amines (AAs) onto bentonite in a batch process was studied. The effect of contact time, initial pH, and amount of bentonite on the adsorption process were investigated. The AAs removal was enhanced with increasing contact time of 20 min at pH 6. Among the Langmuir, Freundlich, Temkin, and Dubinin–Radushkevich models, the experimental isotherm data correspond to adsorption of the AAs onto bentonite were most in agreement with the Temkin equation. Three kinetic models including the pseudo first- and second-order equations and the Elovich equation were selected to investigate the adsorption process. The investigations showed that the adsorption of AAs onto bentonite can be described by the pseudo second-order equation.
