Abstract
ABSTRACT Global warming and climate changes are significant environmental issues. Especially people living in coastal areas are mostly affected from the increases or decreases at sea/lake levels occurring due to these changes. This problem has been the subject of many researches especially since the beginning of the 20th century due to large economic losses and environmental problems in the environment, when excessive descends or risse in lake levels have been observed. Changes in lake water levels are affected from the changes of many climate elements. Therefore, in this study, the changes in the minimum, maximum and average water levels of five largest lakes in Turkey were examined using non-parametric Mann-Kendall and Sen's T methods. The starting years of statistically meaningful changes were determined by non-parametric Mann Kendall Rank Correlation test.
