Abstract

This research paper underscores the investigation and seeks to analyse how biodiesel fuels derived from kukui, kusum and flaxseed perform tribologically under various load and temperature conditions when compared to traditional diesel fuel. The effects of temperature and load on kukui, kusum and flaxseed biodiesel of B100 have been examined in this study. Tribological performance has also been examined experimentally using a four-ball tester. During the experiment investigation, three different operating loads and temperatures: 100-196-294 N and 25-40-55 °C were applied. Frictional torque was measured using data gathering on the system during the operation of the four-ball tester wear monitoring. A microscope was utilised to examine the scar geometry on the balls. Furthermore, a comparative analysis of wear scar geometry with mineral diesel along with kukui, kusum and flaxseed biodiesel has been reported. By examining the various wear scar geometries, the impact of kukui, kusum and flaxseed biodiesel on the rate and amount of wear was also discussed.
