Abstract

AbstractTheoretical and experimental research of thermal phenomena during blade cutting machining by tools with multilayer composite coatings has been carried out. The calculation scheme and analytical dependence are presented, the character of heat fluxes distribution in cutting zone at application of wear-resistant coatings is established. Thermal-physical phenomena in the cutting zone when using composite wear-resistant coatings on the cutting tool with the effect of adaptation to friction conditions are simulated. To confirm the phenomenon of adaptation and redistribution of heat flows in the contact zone a series of adhesion, wear resistance, temperature and force studies during turning of different grades of steels and alloys are carried out. Results of full-scale experimental researches during turning and computer modeling of thermophysical phenomena under changing cutting temperature are given. It is proved that the use of multilayer coatings for the metal-cutting tool allows to increase significantly its wear resistance and durability period and, as a consequence, contributes to the efficiency of the whole process of cutting with a decrease in the temperature-force tension of the cutting zone, due to the reduction of shear strength of adhesive bonds almost in the whole range of contact temperatures studied; displacement (exclusion) of the near-wear zone. In addition, the manifestation of the effect of redistribution of heat flow and delay of thermal phenomena in the plastic deformation zone is shown.KeywordsMetal cuttingFrictionWearCoatingsTribosystemAdaptationSecondary structuresThermal conductivityCutting temperatureWear resistance
