Abstract

1. The telomerization of ethylene with acetone gives 3-ethylpentan-2-one, 3-ethylheptan-2-one, and heptan-4-one, in addition to methyl alkyl ketones of normal structure. 2. The hypothesis has been put forward that the isomeric ketones are formed both by rearrangements with 1,5 migration of hydrogen and through a secondary reaction of the methyl alkyl ketones of normal structure with ethylene under the conditions used.
