Abstract

Using methods of flow birefringence and viscometry a study has been made of the optical anisotropy of solutions of stereospecific PMMA synthesized under different conditions: in presence of BuLi, PhMgBr, PMMA of stereoblock structure prepared in presence of BuLi, as well as PMMA synthesized on BuLi in presence of syndiotactic PMMA. The optical anistropy values of solutions of the PMMA samples examined. and variations in these values with temperature, show that different conditions of stereospecific polymerization of methyl methacrylate lead to the formation of polymers having different intramolecular and supermolecular structures.
