Abstract

This study explores the effects of critical success factors (CSFs) on the implementation of enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems in some organizations in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The study first conducts a review of existing literature in the fields of CSFs and ERP; the objective is being to identify some of the CSFs that have the potential to exert the greatest impact on the success or otherwise of the implementation of ERP systems in general. Thereafter, the study then conducts an investigation into the effects of those CSFs on the implementation processes of ERP systems in a number of organizations within the UAE, which are known to be actively involved, in the implementation of an ERP system, and/or one of its variants. The results of the investigation show that of the various CSFs identified in the study, only about ten (10) of them have the most dramatic effects on the successful implementation of an ERP system—within the context of the United Arab Emirates.
