Abstract

This paper investigates the influence of winding structure and the effect of magneto-motive force harmonics resulting from winding distribution on rotor eddy current loss of the high speed permanent magnet (PM) motor. Rotor eddy current losses on PM motors with concentrated windings having different pole/slots combinations are analyzed by using electromagnetic field analysis- FEM and FFT. Results are useful in reduction of rotor eddy current loss and can be applied in high-speed PM motor designs and motor performances optimization.
