Abstract

This paper presents the characteristic analysis and experiment of High Speed Permanent Magnet (HSPM) motor considering thermal influence and nonlinear load for turbo blower system, based on Finite Element Analysis (FEA). For this purpose, we derive the analytical solutions for temperature of rotor, which is predicted by nonlinear load of impeller through the 3-D FEA in turbo blower system. The harmonic current source of the Space Vector Pulse Width Modulation (SVPWM) is obtained by the coupled analysis of the inverter and permanent magnet motor. The eddy current loss of rotor is analyzed in order to consider harmonic components of current source. The analysis results of the eddy current loss are used for Thermal Lumped Circuit (TLC) to calculate rotor temperature. On the basis of the manufactured 240 [kW] HSPM motor, the FEA results are compared with the experimental results at operating frequency. Nonlinear characteristic of the impeller are verified. Finally, it is verified the similarity between analysis and experimental results of HSPM motor considering rotor temperature at the rated operating speed.
