Abstract

Dry reforming, partial oxidation and combined reforming of methane (combination of partial oxidation and dry reforming) to synthesis gas over nickel catalysts supported on nanocrystalline magnesium oxide with various nickel loadings have been studied. Among the catalysts evaluated, catalyst with 15wt.% nickel content revealed the most active catalytic performance toward dry reforming, partial oxidation and combined reforming reactions. In addition, catalyst with 5wt.% nickel loading was employed in long term stability test and has shown stable catalytic performance up to 50h time on stream without any decrease in methane conversion in these three processes.
