Abstract

Objective To investigate the status quo of caring ability of theatre nurses, with the purpose of providing basis for forming an effective way to cultivate their caring ability. Methods 221 theatre nurses from three three-tier hospitals in Changchun city were investigated with caring ability inventory in this study. Results The score of cognitive in 211 operating room nurses was (72.85 ± 10.23), patience (56.69 ± 7.25), courage (56.58 ± 10.34),lower than foreign norm(80.22 ±7.56), (63.11 ±4.19), (68.25 ± 11.57) (t =-10.72,-13.18,-16.78;P <0.01) ; There were significant differences between nurses with different initial degrees and different working years in knowing and patience (P<0.05). Conclusions Operating room nurses' caring ability was lower; therefore, on the basis of characteristics of operating room, nursing managers should make relevant plan, enhance the interview before the operation and follow-up after the operation, and cultivate and strengthen their caring ability.
