Abstract
Objective To analyze the status quo of caring ability of nursing freshmen and analyze the influential factors in order to propose the strategies for nursing caring education .Methods 214 nursing students in Grade 1 were recruited and investigated with Caring Ability Inventory （ CAI ） .Results The total CAI score was （185.66 ±17.61）,at a low level.The Patience,knowing and courage subscale scores among nursing freshmen were （57.73 ±7.33）,（71.09 ±8.32 ）and （56.82 ±9.74）,which were lower than the international standard （t=-10.719,-16.045,-17.146,respectively;P〈0.05）.The scores of CAI in different age and sex showed statistically significant（t=4.429,3.084, respectively;P〈0.05）.And the better relation of mother-child showed the higher score of CAI （F=3.374,P〈0.05）.The influential factors included relationship with parents,classmates and teachers, campus environment, and social activities.Conclusions Human caring knowledge and ability cultivation of nursing freshmen should be strengthened with reasonable course settings and actively additional second class , helping nursing students from all aspects of family , school and society to build effective caring quality , guide and enhance their caring ability .
