Abstract

A description is given of the results of an investigation of the processes of compressive stress relaxation in uniaxially and three-dimensionally stressed polytetrafluoroethylene. The generalized stress relaxation curves constructed for both cases make it possible to determine the nature of the stress variation over a very long interval of time at a given temperature. The effect on stress relaxation rate of the degree of deformation and the absolute value of the gaps is examined for the case of volume compression. Relaxation time spectra have been constructed.
