Abstract

Experiments on switching current into an inductive load with a plasma opening switch have been performed. The geometry of the transitory region between the plasma opening switch and the load for which complete switching of current is possible has been determined experimentally. It has been demonstrated that a decrease in the electrode gap spacing in the transmission line results in shunting of the load and reclosure of the switch.
