Abstract

In this study, nano B4C powder metal composite samples reinforced in WE43 matrix with different ratios (0.25, 0.5, 1 and 2 wt%) were produced by hot pressing method. The composite powders were mixed at 300 rpm for 4 h and produced by pressing under 350 MPa pressure in a hot pressing unit at 525 °C for 90 min. XRD, optical microscope and SEM-EDS devices were used for the characterization processes of nano B4C reinforced composite samples. Microhardness, transverse rupture strength and wear were applied to determine the mechanical properties. It was determined that the highest hardness, transverse rupture strength and lowest wear rate were in WE43/2% nano B4C composite sample.
