Abstract

In the paper of study, the mechanical behaviour of composites reinforced with natural fiber were studied. Palmyra fibre is selected as a natural fibre. The Palmyra fibre extracted from palm tree were subjected to alkali treatment to modify the surface of the fiber. The fibre is treated with NaOH solution. The specimen is prepared using epoxy resin with fibers of different length. The water retaining property of soluble treated and untreated normally accessible Palmyra fibre is considered and examined. SEM test was done to locate the distinctive surface topography of treated and untreated fibre. The tensile test of treated and untreated fibre were carriedout as per ASTM standard. Finally, the result of the study is determined by water absorption test and sem test for treated and untreated fibers. From the SEM test result fibre pullout were found in untreated fibres composite plates. In all the test results it was evident that the treated fibres performance is higher than the untreated fibre.
