Abstract

p-octyloxybenzoic acid (8OBA) is the 8th member of p-alkoxy benzoic acid homologous series. It exhibits nematic and smectic mesophase with high clearing temperature. This compound shows positive dielectric anisotropy. In this article, frequency dependent of dielectric permittivity and dielectric loss factor have been investigated from homeotropically aligned sample. Impedance spectroscopy which is one of the most important experimental tool to study electrical characterization of the material, have also been studied for this compound.
