Abstract

Drilling is expensive in the oil and gas sector, from exploration through drilling and production to enhanced oil recovery. As a result, it is critical to keep the well intact until the end of completion phase. Understanding the conditions of wellbore and cement quality is very important for achieving efficient cement job. The characteristics of cement can be adjusted dependent on the addition of certain nanomaterials to the cement. Use of nanotechnology in the cement slurry can aid in attaining answers to numerous difficulties that concern to oil well cementation. The present study aimed at investigating the effects of nanoparticles on the properties of prepared cement slurry (Class G Cement and carbon black nanoparticle (CBN) mixed). The effectiveness of cement slurry is analysed through compressive strength test and porosity test for all different carbon black nanoparticle composition. The experimental results indicate that the addition of carbon black nanoparticles has shown a very high increase in compressive strength and lower porosity at the dosage of 0.1% of carbon black nanoparticles by weight of cement compared to 0.25% of carbon black nanoparticles.
