Abstract

Spherical blast waves generated by laser induced damage processes were studied in the weak shock region using wideband microphone detection. Shock wavefront propagation was examined and a comparison with the predictions of the point explosion model was made. Based on the agreement between the theory and experiment, blast wave energy and energy conversion efficiency were determined.
