Abstract

The research and development of a measurement system for remote determination and monitoring of the location and bends of extended objects in 3D space are of current interest. In this work the results of study of bending effects in chirped fiber Bragg gratings array in multicore fiber are presented. The determination of the dependence of grating period change in each core on the bending radius of the fiber allows to reconstruct remotely optical fiber shape. The obtained investigation results will be used to determine the fiber-optic light guide shape changes without using methods of optical frequency domain reflectometry. The work presents experimental results with the multicore optical fiber with the array of chirped fiber Bragg gratings. The experimental optical scheme and the reflection spectra prior to and after the optical fiber bending are presented.
