Abstract

It is necessary in building to pass pipes and ducts through slab to accommodate essential public services, such as gas pipeline, water supply, and computer networking. However, presence of opening abrupt the path of load to column. This will increase effect of critical forces like moments, deflection, and punching shear. This paper represents numerical analysis and studies the behavior of different types of flat slabs having different types of openings for serviceability and collapse states. The numerical analysis includes group A and group B. Group A and group B are further subdivided into five parts of models with no opening, square opening, circular opening at varying distance of opening from the face column, square opening, and circular opening at the center of slab. This study is conducted to know the behavior of different type of flat slabs. As per analytical result, various conclusion and recommendation are proposed in the study.
