Abstract

Linked with the characteristic of quartz crystal resonant chemical sensors, surface acoustic load sensitivity of a quartz crystal resonator (QCR), coated or not coated, is analyzed. Taking surface coating material and surface sorption into account, a multi-layer mechanical model is set up for the QCR. Starting from this model, formulae, which can be generally used for calculating relationship between resonant parameters and surface state, are deduced.
