Investigation and countermeasures on the professional values of the young psychiat-ric nurse in north Jiangsu area

Abstract

Objective To investigate the professional values of the young psychiatric nurse in north Jiangsu area and analyze the influencing factors to provide the scientific basis for psychiatric nursing managers.Methods The questionnaire was used and Nursing Profes-sional Values Scale-R was distributed for the psychiatric nurses who had worked between 1 and 10 years.The result was analyzed .Results The total score of the professional values of the young psychiatric nurses in north Jiangsu area was 3.71 ±0.58 in the medium to high lev-el.The four dimensions of all from high to low respectively was Trust （3.97 ±0.71）, care and provid （3.75 ±0.67）, responsibility, free-dom, safety （3.68 ±0.62）, activism （3.43 ±0.62） .In general material, the major impact on the level of professional values was the ed-ucation of the young nurse in north Jiangsu area.Conclusions The professional values of the young nurse with college degree or above is commonly lower than those with secondary education , it is said that nursing managers should pay more attention to the education and training of professional values for those nurse with college degree or above.
