Abstract

The study was designed to assess the predictive influence of psychosocial factors on mobilization behaviour among bank employees. The study was a cross-sectional survey, which employed ex-post facto design. Questionnaire format was employed for data collection. A total of 800 bank employees took part in the study as participants. Specifically, the participants comprised 377 males and 423 females with a mean age = 36.2 years (SD = 7.08). Both descriptive and inferential statistics were employed for data analysis, using statistical package for the social sciences(SPSS) version 10.0. The results revealed that the factors (perception of risk, social support, prior victimization, neuroticism, physical characteristics assessment, gender, age and educational status) significantly showed independent and joint prediction of mobilization behaviour (R2 = 0.09; F (8,791) = 9.14, p < 0.01). Therefore, the psychosocial factors have been found to have predictive power on mobilization behaviour among bank employees. In this vein therefore, concerted efforts should be geared towards the control of mobilization behaviour among bank employees with attention given to the implicated psychosocial factors. Equally, management of banking institutions should institute policies that address issues which will reduce a number of criminal events and some other work-related activities such as fear of crime in the workplace.   Key words: Psychosocial factors, mobilization behaviour, bank employees.
