Abstract

AbstractThis poster presents preliminary results of a pilot study of the information practices of parents of gender non‐conforming (GNC) youth. Semi‐structured interviews with six parents of transgender or non‐binary youth (ages 12–25) were conducted. Parents prioritized their children, regardless of age, as epistemic and cognitive authorities. Secondarily, parents prized the lived experiences of other transgender people and the families that supported them. Data analysis is ongoing and is anticipated to produce a fuller explication of these findings.
