Abstract

Recently e-learning platforms have been used in afterschool tutoring programs. This study investigated the effects of applying an E-learning platform, JoinNet, for one-on-one English tutoring in an afterschool program in a junior high school in Taiwan. Twenty tutees participated in this program. The program lasted for 15 weeks. A questionnaire was administered to the tutee to gain their perspectives of the effects of the online tutoring. This study finds that students have improved their English and that they show positive attitudes toward the online tutoring program. It offers pedagogical suggestions for researchers who are interested in researching this topic.
