Abstract

This introduction presents an overview of the key concepts discussed in the subsequent chapters of this book. The book focuses on Black studies, Indigenous studies, Latinx studies, and Asian studies, people do so with an awareness that racism’s multifaceted reach does not recognise such discrete boundaries. It examines McQueen’s portrayal of Black British people, including people from the Windrush generation, and their relationship with Britain. The book illustrates the systemic racism towards the Windrush generation and their attempted deportation by Britain as documented in the film, Sitting in Limbo. It explores the concept of diffraction and becoming-black to consider the possibility of altering our ontological and epistemological constructions, as people teach in the digital realm. The book discusses the use of social media by migrants in Germany and Kenya.
