Abstract
Constipation is defined as having fewer than three bowel movements per week, dry stools, and difficulty in defecation. Occasional constipation is common, but when constipation lasts more than 12 weeks for chronic constipation. Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) has a long history of treating constipation, and has been used in a large number of clinical applications with good results. The role of Chinese medicine in the treatment of constipation is also growing.
