Abstract

Due to the rapid technological, economic, and political changes that now characterize modern society, social entrepreneurship (SE), and innovation have become increasingly salient to the management of sport for development and peace (SDP) organizations. While most attention has been paid to the outcomes of entrepreneurial and innovative activities, this chapter outlines three intraorganizational factors that will help SDP organizations strategically enable, cultivate, and sustain social entrepreneurship and innovation: (1) mission-driven culture, (2) leadership, and (3) intentional programming and management. In addition to describing how each factor is conceptually linked with SE and innovation, practical considerations for implementation are provided to inform best practices.
