Abstract

The effect of environment on the dynamics of intramolecular charge transfer (ICT) processes has been discussed. It has been shown that the concept of polarity dependent rate of twisted ICT (TICT) process is applicable to a wide variety of molecules. Further, several restricted environments are found to influence the TICT processes markedly. The extraordinary sensitivity of the TICT processes has been utilised to probe “local” polarity of these restricted environments.
