Abstract
In this interview, Ambassador Shinn discusses recent terrorist actions by al-Shabaab in Africa and counter-terrorism efforts in Somalia. Additional analyses of Somalia’s future as well as Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir’s government are provided. The interview concludes with discussion of China’s involvement in Africa including oil exportation from Sudan and South Sudan, impact of the Chinese economy’s slowdown on Africa, and the effect of diasporas on China and Africa.
