Abstract

Dr. Erumban discusses benefits of the WIOD (World Input–Output Database); containing Input–Output tables have been extremely useful in understanding sectoral linkages within a country. In particular, it has been valuable in analyzing the BRIC countries. Environmental issues facing India are discussed, concentrating on the problems involved with the implementation of policies. An examination of labor markets for China and India is compared including labor costs, productivity, and sector. An analysis of the slowing Indian economy is presented along with a forward look at its prospects for recovery. The interview concludes with an examination of structural change and economic growth in China and India.
