Abstract

This article analyzes the proposals submitted to the contest for the expansion of the Bank of Spain in 1978, of which Rafael Moneo's proposal was the winner, which would be built almost thirty years later. The different preliminary projects presented allow us to analyze some of the prevailing trends and ideas in those years about the relationship between architecture and existing heritage.
