Abstract
Objective To understand the effect of intervention in sexually transmitted disease (STD) of female sex workers (FSWs) in entertainment venues of Panyu district,and to provide the basis for corresponding prevention and measures.Methods 15 FSWs in Panyu District were randomly selected for the survey,FSWs were implemented intervention including health education and condom promotion.Knowledge awareness rate of STD,usage rate of condom and infection rate of four venereal diseases were compared before and after intervention.Results After intervention,the STD knowledge awareness rate was significantly increased (92.02% vs 61.28%).Condom use rate was significantly increased in the past month(81.56%vs 37.61%),P<0.05; gonorrhea infection rate dropped (1.49% vs 3.38%),chlamydia trachomatis infection rate decreased (3.74% vs 10.29%),condyloma acuminatum infection rate decreased (1.87% vs 4.18%),syphilis infection rate dropped (2.24% vs 4.50%).Conclusion The effects of health education and behavior intervention for FSWs are remarkable.
